theme 4: How to live?

You know, since we’re here ON the planet,

how should we treat ourselves, each other AND the planet?

Is there such a thing as a moral compass?

Say you had to invent one new rule

that all humans must adopt immediately, forever.

What value/ideal would be behind that rule for you?

4.1 Human beings have to get on with each other. How do we decide how to do that? Are there some good ideas?

I mean, surely human beings’ve come up with SOMETHING!? Like, always fill up the kettle after you use it so its done for the next person?

4.2 What is right and what is wrong? Are they just things we decide? And if so, who?

I’m pretty sure it wasn’t me…

4.3 A lot of religions have a lot of rules for how to live lives. Why? Is that their main purpose?

My favourite is the rule about always giving a Snickers to website sub-editors.

That seems very civilised…

4.4 Some people say you shouldn’t judge others cos they’re just being themselves, their ‘true selves’.  What do you think about this?

I have many thoughts about this. Don’t judge me for it!!

4.5 People talk about a ‘moral compass’. What is yours and what does that do for you?

HINT: it’s not for drawing circles when you’re bored in Yr10 maths…
