theme 5: Tomorrow?
Hey, do you believe in “soulmates”?
Underpinning ideas like that is probably stuff
about fate, destiny and what might happen tomorrow.
Is there a plan to life or is everything random?
Does it matter either way?
Why is the bus always late!?!?
5.1 When people talk about ‘fate’ or ‘destiny’, what do they mean?
I’d mention Destiny’s Child here but who even remembers them!? C’mon, that’s the band Beyonce used to be in!!
5.2 Free will sounds good but does/can life get in the way of that?
If free will means we can make our own decisions, can the cultures we live in get in the way? Certainly things like the amount of opportunity you have, the money at hand etc play a part, right?
5.3 People seem keen to know what their future holds. Is it possible to know what’s coming next for individuals?
Lotto numbers, amiright? But also, where our lives are headed, what decsions we should make and how they’ll pan out, will we meet a tall dark attractive stranger etc And yeah, also the lotto numbers…
5.4 Do you believe that there is a plan for everyone? How would that help?
In 1986, the American indie rock band Let’s Active released the record, “Big Plans for Everybody”. Wow, I really liked that LP. Hmmm, probably not so relevant here…
